Students can opt for the Master of Arts (MA) program by meeting an extra foreign language prerequisite, arranged through the Department of Languages and Literature in the College of Humanities. This curriculum provides comprehensive foundational training in economics, covering both theoretical and practical coursework. Completion of a bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university.
2. Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or better.
3. Successful completion of Intermediate Microeconomic Analysis (Econ 4010 or equivalent), Intermediate Macroeconomic Analysis (Econ 4020 or equivalent) and Principles of Econometrics (Econ 4650 or equivalent) with a B- or better.*
4. Three academic letters of reference.
5. Short statement of academic and personal goals (no more than two pages).
*If you do not meet these prerequisites, your application will be considered incomplete. Grades for the prerequisites should be posted on your transcripts at the time of application. These requirements may be completed at any accredited university, including as a non-degree seeking student at the University of Utah. These courses do not count towards your graduate degree program once admitted.
