The Exercise and Disease faculty perform cutting-edge research to enhance knowledge about how physical activity contributes to preventing chronic illnesses and improving health outcomes related to these conditions. The Exercise and Disease graduate programs offer interdisciplinary, practical education through academic courses, guided research and teaching opportunities, and conclude with student-led investigative projects. Applicants must gain admission to the Graduate School before being considered for the program by the Exercise and Disease faculty. While each student works closely with a faculty advisor, all participants engage collaboratively in the program. Graduates completing the MS-thesis program may pursue careers such as clinical exercise physiologist, research coordinator, health operations manager, or university instructor. Those earning a PhD can explore positions including university professor (tenure or non-tenure track), medical science liaison, academic program director, or institutional review board administrator.
