Every participant in this program will pursue a primary focus in kinesiology and sport studies. Participants will choose to concentrate in either kinesiology or sport studies, followed by selecting a particular specialization. Prior to entering the PhD program, candidates must fulfill all prerequisites for a master's degree in kinesiology, physical education, psychology, sport studies, or a similar discipline. The curriculum includes 15 credit hours in the chosen concentration, 18 hours of research coursework, 9 hours dedicated to the specialization, at least 6 hours in an external or related field, plus 24 hours for dissertation work.

Qualification Requirements

For admission to a graduate program, an international student must have an equivalent 4-year bachelor's degree. Individuals with degrees from foreign institutions must have earned a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all undergraduate work and a minimum of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale on all graduate work. US degree holders must have earned a minimum 2.7 out of a possible 4.0 GPA or a minimum of 3.0 during the senior year of undergraduate study and a minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on all graduate work.
