Discover a new language, develop cultural understanding, and engage with our interconnected world through the Middle East Studies program. Participants can select either Arabic or Persian as their focus area while exploring diverse perspectives on the Middle East through various courses. The Middle East Center collaborates with multiple University of Utah departments to provide interdisciplinary studies in fields including anthropology, economics, geography, history, literature, linguistics, and political science.
Professional Pathways
International experience and cross-cultural knowledge can give you a competitive edge in the job market. The Middle East Studies program equips students with valuable skills applicable to careers in translation, immigration services, journalism, or global commerce. Alumni have found success as victim advocates, editors, community development specialists, and military officers. The program also provides excellent preparation for graduate studies or careers in law, social work, public policy, or international affairs.
