Our goal is to provide an advanced program for aspiring educators pursuing careers in elementary schools across the country. Classrooms in urban, suburban, rural, public, or private settings all encounter matters of race, gender, socioeconomic status, fairness, language diversity, and social equity. These themes serve as both the conceptual base and framework for shaping students' academic journeys. The available teaching disciplines include anthropology, biology, chemistry, earth sciences, physics, mathematics, English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, history, political science, sociology, visual arts, theater, music education, sports science, elementary education, and deaf education.
The Education Department embodies cutting-edge educational research and practical methodologies currently shaping the field. Matters of race, gender, socioeconomic background, equality, language diversity, and social equity are present in all learning environments, regardless of location or school type. These concerns establish the theoretical groundwork for developing students' academic pathways.
Future educators can select from these major options: mathematics, English, French, German, Spanish, history, political science, music, and elementary education. Science and art education programs await state authorization.
Our department delivers an arts and sciences-based curriculum combined with Education coursework, hands-on field training, and specialized content programs utilizing cross-disciplinary faculty knowledge. This educational framework prepares candidates for Oklahoma teaching certification.
