This program is tailored for those holding a bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders, as well as individuals with degrees in other fields who have completed the necessary prerequisite courses in this discipline. It equips students with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on clinical training needed to obtain ASHA national certification, state licensure as speech-language pathologists, and state certification as teachers for the speech and hearing impaired. The full-time program spans five consecutive semesters (including one summer) and must be finished within two years. All classes and clinical internships are conducted in person, with academic courses scheduled three evenings per week (5:00 PM-7:45 PM) and practicum work taking place during daytime hours at least three days weekly. The curriculum includes 45 graduate-level academic credits plus up to 9 clinical practicum credits. Students gain direct experience diagnosing and treating patients at the program's Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and external facilities, accumulating 400 practicum hours typically over three semesters across various communication and swallowing disorders. While most students complete these hours within three semesters, additional practicum coursework is permitted if needed, though no more than 9 practicum credits count toward the 54-credit degree requirement. Students may exceed required hours at external sites if necessary, but only 9 practicum credits will apply to the program total.
