This graduate-level certificate program is tailored for students who hold bachelor's degrees in disciplines outside communication disorders, equipping them for admission to Speech-Language Pathology master's programs. Certificate recipients will achieve the same foundational knowledge typically gained through undergraduate communication disorders degrees. This includes understanding: 1) fundamental human communication and swallowing mechanisms, covering their biological, neurological, acoustic, psychological, developmental, and linguistic/cultural foundations, and 2) the characteristics of communication and swallowing disorders, including their causes, manifestations, and anatomical/physiological, acoustic, psychological, developmental, and linguistic/cultural aspects.
