Your love for literature and writing drives you to explore further depths. Choose guided independent research instead of exams for graduation, with opportunities like teaching assistantships, advanced Writing Center roles, strong placement in college teaching positions, and high acceptance rates into funded PhD programs. Collaborate closely with faculty on thesis research or expand your knowledge through elective courses in the non-thesis track. The program emphasizes college-level English teaching and offers an optional focus on digital rhetoric and multimodal design, equipping you for further academic pursuits or immediate careers in education, communications, or business. Literature and writing hold profound significance—they help us examine life's essential questions while fostering empathy and insight. A master's degree opens diverse paths: prepare to inspire students as a professor, teach at community colleges, or pursue a PhD for advanced academic roles. Courses in digital multimodal design also prepare English MA students for leadership roles in the digital landscape. Beyond academia, the skills refined in our English master's program have broad applications. Master the art of language and critical thinking to influence East Texas and beyond as a writer or in communication-focused business roles.
