The Master of Science in Kinesiology program prepares students for advanced careers in physical activity, fitness, strength training, health promotion, rehabilitation, sports medicine, athletic training, coaching, and recreation, or for further academic pursuits in PhD or professional doctoral programs.
Participants can customize their studies by choosing one of four focus areas: Exercise Physiology, Motor Behavior, Sport and Exercise Psychology, or Strength and Human Performance. Each specialization offers both thesis (30 credit hours) and non-thesis (36 credit hours) completion options.
UTSA's MS in Kinesiology stands as the sole R1-ranked graduate program in this field across south Texas. As a Hispanic Serving Institution with the Seal of Excelencia, UTSA is exceptionally equipped to address the educational requirements of its diverse student body and local community. These unique qualities establish UTSA's program as a top choice for regional students pursuing advanced kinesiology education.
The Strength and Human Performance concentration equips students with knowledge about performance training and evaluation for athletes, tactical personnel, recreational enthusiasts, and special populations. This pathway benefits those aiming for careers in strength coaching, sports instruction, fitness training, athletic therapy, or rehabilitation specialties.
