The Department of Kinesiology provides academic programs centered on the core examination of sports, physical exercise, and movement-related phenomena. The Master of Science program aims to equip students with interdisciplinary kinesiology expertise, enhance their research capabilities, and refine their practical professional skills. This degree functions both as a final qualification for practitioners and as foundational preparation for doctoral studies in Kinesiology or related health fields. With many students balancing work commitments, graduate classes are scheduled in the evenings.

Qualification Requirements
Eligibility for admission to the M.S. degree program in Classified Graduate status requires a student to have a baccalaureate degree with a major approximately equivalent to the Cal State East Bay B.S. degree in kinesiology. The graduate coordinator or department chair will determine degree equivalencies. Students must also submit 2-3 letters of recommendation from former professors and a statement of purpose to the graduate coordinator, and have attained at least a 3.00 grade point average in the major.
English language demonstration is required for all applicants processed in International Admissions. We accept the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT version or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic version of the exams.
