UTSA's Nutrition and Dietetics program forms the basis for the Master of Dietetics Studies (MDS) and represents the initial phase toward becoming a licensed dietitian. While pursuing your bachelor's degree, you'll participate in coursework and complete practical training hours across three key areas: community nutrition, clinical practice, and food service administration. This distinctive curriculum allows you to obtain combined BS and MDS credentials, qualifying you to sit for the national registration examination for dietitians.
As a professional dietitian, you'll design tailored nutritional plans for individuals at every life stage. Career opportunities span diverse healthcare settings including medical centers, health clubs, and institutional food service providers.
