The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology offers specializations in athletic training, rehabilitation science, exercise science, physical education, or strength and conditioning. Athletic training concentrators must join UTSA's Athletic Training Apprenticeship Program and complete graduate studies for national certification. Rehabilitation science prepares students for healthcare careers like physical or occupational therapy, though state licensure requires further graduate education.
The Physical Education concentration fulfills Texas State Board for Educator Certification requirements, combining academic coursework with student teaching experience. Certification candidates must complete all degree requirements, pass the TExES exams, and gain admission to the Teacher Certification Program before beginning their teaching practicum, qualifying graduates to teach PE from pre-K through 12th grade.
