The Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on School Health Education equips students to become health educators in school settings. This program qualifies graduates for the state's multi-age teaching license, incorporating diverse field experiences and culminating in student teaching.
An optional Health and Physical Education concentration enables students to obtain Ohio teaching credentials in both disciplines. This five-year program permits students to apply up to 12 graduate-level credit hours toward degree requirements.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, graduates will demonstrate the ability to:
Assess elements influencing effective health education and Coordinated School Health (CSH) implementation, choose appropriate instructional materials for diverse learners, demonstrate program execution proficiency, and adapt teaching strategies based on program monitoring.
Measure CSH program effectiveness, create assessment tools for student learning outcomes, implement evaluation plans, analyze results, and apply findings to improve future programs.
Collaborate on school health initiatives by integrating health education with other school health components, foster teamwork among educators and staff, build partnerships between health professionals across settings, and design professional development opportunities for school and community stakeholders.
Effectively use digital health information systems, provide expert consultation on health-related issues, respond to health information inquiries, and curate quality educational resources for distribution.
