The UTEP Graduate School provides an 18-semester-hour Graduate Certificate Program in Planning, an interdisciplinary offering housed within the Master of Public Administration Program. This certificate targets both working professionals holding bachelor's or advanced degrees seeking to expand their planning expertise, and graduate students enrolled in the MPA or related programs (including Economics, Political Science, Environmental Science, and Engineering) who want to complement their studies with planning credentials. Tailored for current planners and aspiring professionals, the curriculum delivers fundamental training in economics, population studies, legal frameworks, management principles, and essential planning technologies like GIS systems.

Qualification Requirements
Prospective students must apply through the Graduate School. Applicants must complete the graduate school application and provide an official transcript. Admission into the program will be based on the applicant's undergraduate record. Students who enroll in the certificate program and decide at a later date to pursue a graduate degree may apply to the appropriate graduate program and request that the units be incorporated in the degree program at admission. If you did not attend high school in the United States and your most recent institution of learning was not located in an English-speaking country, UTEP requires you to provide evidence of English-language proficiency. Minimum score 550 on the paper-based (pBT) TOEFL. Some programs require 600 or better. Minimum score of 79 on the internet-based test (iBT), and minimum of 6.5 on IELTS.
