UTEP's strategic position provides valuable insights for examining Hispanic communities in the U.S. Learners engage in practical experiences through internships, volunteer work, and academic collaborations across the U.S., Mexico, and Cuba. This curriculum maintains an on-campus option alongside its digital counterpart. Our educational and investigative initiatives focus specifically on Mexican-American communities, exploring their heritage, traditions, and pressing modern societal challenges. Through multidisciplinary coursework, we examine racial, socioeconomic, gender, and sexual identity dynamics within local, national, and international contexts - factors that have historically influenced and continue to impact both academic discourse and the lived realities of Chicana/o and broader Latina/o populations in America.
