The Master of Arts in Visual and Performing Arts program encourages interdisciplinary exploration and artistic practice, preparing graduates for careers in the arts or advanced academic pursuits. Led by globally renowned faculty at The University of Texas at Dallas, this graduate program provides students with in-depth understanding of artistic theories and methodologies essential for creative production and scholarly analysis. The curriculum offers an interdisciplinary framework for research and practice, spanning diverse creative traditions and critical perspectives across film, visual arts, performing arts, and art history.

As an interdisciplinary degree, the program requires students to complete most coursework in visual and performing arts while also taking two seminars each in literature and history of ideas. Participants can select between a professional track (coursework only) or research track (including foreign language proficiency and a research portfolio). The research option is particularly valuable for doctoral candidates, allowing students to incorporate creative projects into their final portfolio.
