The Master of Arts in Latin American Studies program equips students with comprehensive knowledge across various disciplines related to Latin America. Led by globally renowned faculty at The University of Texas at Dallas and leveraging the innovative interdisciplinary framework of the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology, this graduate program features a cohesive curriculum blending literary, historical, cultural, and visual studies.
Master's candidates can choose between a professional track (focused solely on coursework) or a research track (combining coursework with a capstone project). Both paths mandate foreign language proficiency and completion of an approved internship or international study experience. The research track is particularly valuable for students considering advanced doctoral studies.
Degree requirements: Normally students applying for admission to the Graduate Program in Latin American Studies should have a previous degree (BA or BS) in arts and humanities fields, demonstrated interest and experience in Latin American studies, and a grade point average of 3.3 (especially in upper-division undergraduate work).
