PhD candidates typically complete at least 60 credit hours (including 42 coursework credits and 18 dissertation credits) post-master's degree, successfully pass comprehensive exams, and defend an original dissertation.
Degree requirements: Previous academic degree (BA or BS, MA or MFA) in an appropriate field (i.e., Art, Computer Science).
GPA: 3.3 (especially in upper-division undergraduate and graduate work)

Deadlines: For priority consideration for admission and funding, the last day to begin a doctoral program application is January 6. Completed applications to the doctoral program must be received on or before January 15. Students are accepted for the fall semester only.
