The Master of Education (M.Ed.) is a hands-on degree program designed to equip students for careers in clinical rehabilitation, sports science, and nutrition. Our research-intensive Master of Science (M.S.) program connects students with faculty advisors, enabling them to investigate diverse subjects examining short-term and long-term exercise effects and adaptations concerning metabolic and cardiovascular wellness in sedentary, elderly, or medically compromised populations. This pathway is ideal for those considering doctoral studies in exercise physiology. Prospective M.S. candidates should proactively reach out to faculty members whose research aligns with their academic goals.
Both degree programs incorporate comprehensive curricula addressing multiple physiological systems—including cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic, neuromuscular, and endocrine functions—as they relate to immediate and sustained physical activity.
For those preferring a course-based approach, the M.Ed. concentration provides specialized training for exercise science professions. Graduates will possess the necessary skills for clinical roles demanding exercise physiology knowledge. The curriculum features core requirements and departmental electives, with opportunities for interdisciplinary study through advisor-guided course selection beyond the Kinesiology and Health Education Department's offerings.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
Application deadline: December 01 for fall and october 1 for spring
