In collaboration with The McCombs School of Business, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies provides a dual-degree program enabling students to obtain both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies within three academic years (degree code: 668650). Customized study plans incorporate core MBA classes, electives, and specialized Middle Eastern coursework. This program equips qualified candidates with essential business skills and regional expertise for careers involving the Middle East.
Participants typically devote their initial year to Middle Eastern Studies coursework. The second year focuses on graduate business classes and selected electives, while the final year blends courses from both disciplines. Proficiency in a Middle Eastern language and completion of a professional report are mandatory requirements.
Beyond the MA in Middle Eastern Studies, the Center offers seven additional dual-degree options combining Middle Eastern Studies with professional degrees from other UT schools. Dual-degree candidates usually spend an extra year at CMES (or two additional years for the Law dual degree). All MA requirements apply equally to dual-degree and standard program students.

The Graduate School requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a four-point scale for admitted graduate students. The graduate admission GPA is calculated based on upper-division and graduate coursework only. The committee will be looking for at least a 3.50 GPA (or approximate international equivalent) from your undergraduate and, if applicable, master's degree. Those with a GPA below the 3.50 minimum may still be considered for admission if all other application materials are compelling.
The Graduate School requires applicants to have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution.
