The Master's in Asian Studies program offers adaptable options to accommodate diverse interests and career aspirations. Graduates of this program often pursue opportunities in government, private sector roles, nonprofit work, and various other professional paths. While some alumni advance to doctoral programs in related disciplines, please note we don't offer a PhD specifically in Asian Studies. After completing their Master's, students may apply to the Asian Cultures and Languages PhD program, though acceptance isn't automatic and depends on completing coursework similar to the Asian Cultures and Languages Master's curriculum. Typically, students finish the Master's program within two academic years.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
