The Master of Arts (M.A.) in East Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary graduate program that delivers focused academic training to develop comprehensive knowledge about the populations, historical background, cultural traditions, modern social structures, political systems, and economic conditions of China, Japan, Korea, or cross-border areas in East Asia. This curriculum serves both students aiming for doctoral studies in East Asian disciplines (such as anthropology, economics, history, art history, linguistics and literature - including comparative literature, film studies, and theater studies - political science, sociology, etc.) and those pursuing a final master's degree before careers in business, media, public service, or professional education.
Applicants must have completed your undergraduate degree (bachelor's or equivalent) or will have completed it prior to your intended matriculation date at Yale.
