The Studio Art program provides in-depth education within a supportive environment for students aiming to advance to graduate studies or establish careers in visual arts. Instead of specializing in individual mediums (like Painting or Photography), the undergraduate curriculum features two Studio Art degrees, both enabling students to explore coursework spanning five disciplines. In their initial year, Studio Art students familiarize themselves with the department and their major through the First-Year Core Program—a series of required courses that develop essential technical and conceptual skills while preparing them for higher-level degree work.
As students progress through the Studio Art program, they can experiment with diverse media across the five disciplines or concentrate on select areas, advancing from beginner to upper-level courses. Complementing studio practice, students are urged to attend lectures and seminars featuring guest artists and critics. Senior students also gain the chance to contribute to organizing and presenting their work in a yearly public exhibition.
