The Department of Classics provides two undergraduate degree options: Classical Languages and Classical Studies. Each major requires students to select one of five available specialized tracks. The Classical Languages program is ideal for those particularly drawn to Latin and Greek literature and linguistics. For all Classical Languages tracks, most upper-level coursework involves Latin and/or Greek classes. These programs mandate a minor in a discipline outside Greek, Latin, or Classical Civilization. The Latin concentration blends in-depth Latin studies with classes in Classical Civilization and/or Greek, emphasizing detailed analysis of literary, historical, and philosophical works from antiquity.
