The Comparative Literature undergraduate program invites students to explore literary studies through theoretical, interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and global lenses. Foundational courses equip students to understand how texts gain diverse meanings across various institutional, philosophical, and socio-political contexts. The major offers three focus areas: National and Transnational Literatures (requiring four courses in two languages), Literary Theory, and Globalization Studies. Designed for flexibility, the program encourages students to enroll in courses across multiple College departments. Those passionate about multiple national literatures or intersecting fields like philosophy, political theory, visual arts, aesthetics, film, or music will appreciate the adaptable curriculum. This program cultivates a worldly intellectual foundation that's becoming ever more valuable in today's global landscape.
