The Graduate Studies Division within the College of Health, Education, and Professional Studies provides an Educational Leadership Certificate Program designed for post-master's students pursuing administrative licensure as principals or supervisors. This program expands upon coursework from prior graduate studies, emphasizing school improvement leadership to enhance learning outcomes for every student. The curriculum and practical experiences adhere to Tennessee's Instructional Leadership Standards, culminating in a final practicum course. While the field experience component is substantial, participants can fulfill these requirements while maintaining teaching positions. This certificate aligns with Tennessee's 2009 Learning Centered Leadership Policy, ensuring graduates qualify for principal/supervisor certification in the state.

Admission to the Certificate Program:
Successful completion of a master's, specialist's, or doctoral degree in education from a regionally accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
A teaching certificate and three successful years teaching experience are required by the State for admission to principal licensure programs.
In addition, a portfolio, two letters of recommendation and an interview are required as part of the application process.
IELTS - overall minimum score 6.0.
TOEFL IBT - overall minimum score 79.
