The Master of Psychology: Research Concentration aims to equip students for careers in academic research and teaching. Through a mentorship approach where students partner closely with faculty advisors, the program provides hands-on experience essential for a psychology career. This mission is achieved by focusing on three key objectives. Initially, students develop research competencies to help design studies and analyze behavioral data. Next, they collaborate directly with seasoned researchers to understand real-world research challenges, often through community-based service learning initiatives. Finally, students learn instructional techniques and receive guided practice in teaching, including opportunities to lead undergraduate psychology courses and labs. This concentration caters to students pursuing graduate studies in non-clinical or non-industrial-organizational psychology fields, offering specialized knowledge and research training to prepare them for PhD programs or research-oriented careers.
