This program is a joint initiative with the College of Education, requiring coursework from both disciplines. Participants must complete both the MA and EdS degrees, along with a full academic year internship, to qualify for licensure endorsement. The EdS represents an advanced specialization track, designed exclusively for individuals who have already earned an MA (or equivalent degree) in school psychology or currently hold school psychology credentials. The program maintains accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and full recognition from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)CAEP. Additionally, it holds official approval from the Tennessee State Department of Education, culminating in state licensure for school psychology.
The MAEdS program's primary objective is to equip students to fulfill all academic requirements, secure school psychology certification from the Tennessee State Board of Education (or equivalent agencies in other states), and achieve National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) status.
Baccalaureate Degree: The applicant must provide an official transcript showing that a bachelor’s degree was awarded by an accredited college or university. If you are a UofM undergraduate student applying to Graduate School at UofM, you do not need to request that an official transcript be sent to Graduate Admissions. This office has access to your transcript. In addition, transcripts from any other college or university attended may be requested. Only transcripts received directly from an issuing institution are considered official. Personal copies are not acceptable as official documents.
GPA: The applicant must have earned an acceptable grade point average, typically a minimum of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0, but departments may make exceptions for students whose overall GPA does not adequately reflect their ability to succeed in their chosen field.
