The Comparative and Experimental Medicine program, an interdisciplinary initiative, equips students for careers in health sciences education and research. This curriculum focuses on a comparative analysis of biomedical studies. Students with undergraduate training in biological sciences gain unique insights into human and animal disease mechanisms through this multidisciplinary approach. By combining expertise from veterinary and human medicine faculties, along with public health specialists and life science researchers, the program offers extensive academic breadth. The collaborative learning environment leverages resources from the Veterinary Medical Center, University of Tennessee Health Science Center, various life science departments, Herbert College of Agriculture, Tickle College of Engineering, and the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. Contributing Graduate School of Medicine departments encompass Anesthesia, Dentistry, Medicine, Medical Genetics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pathology, Radiology, and Surgery. Veterinary Medicine participation includes Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences, Large Animal Clinical Sciences, and Small Animal Clinical Sciences departments.
