This program offers core courses along with hands-on theoretical and lab training. You'll develop and evaluate hypotheses regarding human behavior, biology, and cognition. Fieldwork and internships with nearby healthcare providers allow you to put knowledge into practice. Our faculty advisors specialize in behavioral health, neuroscience, and various psychology disciplines including clinical, cognitive, developmental, health, industrial/organizational, learning, and social psychology. The graduate program in psychological sciences at NAU operates on the core belief that psychological research must follow scientific methodology. This involves formulating and examining theories about human behavioral, biological, and cognitive functions. Maintaining scientific precision is crucial for assessing, sharing, generating, and implementing psychological findings. The curriculum allows students to select courses aligned with their career objectives, whether preparing for doctoral studies, careers in healthcare (including behavior analysis), psychology education, or other fields requiring research, methodological, and statistical expertise. Students may have the option to pair the MA in Psychological Sciences with additional certificate or degree programs. We prepare graduates to become ethical, scientifically-minded professionals dedicated to helping others and valuing human differences.
