The Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Tennessee Knoxville has held continuous accreditation from the American Psychological Association since 1949. Our curriculum prepares students to become skilled clinical psychologists who will advance the field through research, education, and clinical practice.
We adhere to The Tennessee Model, a framework that trains students to view psychological research and practice as interconnected disciplines, enhancing outcomes in both areas. Students gain comprehensive instruction in research methods, psychological evaluation, therapeutic interventions, and pedagogical skills. Faculty members incorporate diverse theoretical approaches in clinical training, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused, and systemic methodologies.
