Detailed information about pre-medical program choices is available through Arts and Sciences Advising Services. The accelerated three-year Bachelor of Science in pre-professional studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, follows the curriculum described below. Participants must complete a minimum of 90 specified credit hours in the College of Arts and Sciences, with the degree awarded after successfully finishing the first year in Memphis. Those continuing to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, for their fourth year are exempt from major requirements. All students must complete their final 30 credit hours at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, prior to entering the College of Medicine. Acceptance into the College of Medicine is solely at the institution's discretion—completing this program does not guarantee admission. While a Bachelor's degree isn't mandatory for medical school entry, most accepted students have earned one beforehand. Consequently, pre-med students are advised to fulfill all degree requirements before starting medical studies.
