The Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee boasts both its largest undergraduate and doctoral programs, earning national acclaim for its exceptional research, distinguished faculty, and outstanding students. Our department serves approximately 110 graduate students across three programs: Experimental Psychology (with specializations in Cognitive and Developmental Science, Social Psychology, and Neuroscience and Behavior), along with two nationally accredited applied doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology. Additionally, we support over 900 undergraduate psychology majors and confer nearly 500 bachelor's degrees each year—accounting for roughly one-quarter of all undergraduate degrees awarded by the College of Arts and Sciences. Faculty and students alike are united in their dedication to intellectual exploration, public scholarship, constructive discourse, civic engagement, and fostering a collaborative environment that nurtures professional growth while advancing psychological science.
