The Program offers exceptional independence while providing structured support at key stages of a student's academic journey. Students can choose from three concentrations: B.A. in Humanities: Liberal Arts, B.A. in Humanities: International Studies, or B.A. in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Departmental Honors are available for those who meet the criteria. For the Liberal Arts or International Studies concentrations, students need to maintain a 2.0 GPA in their chosen program, complete 45 semester hours across UTC's academic departments (with no more than 18 hours in one department). These concentrations enable students to create personalized interdisciplinary curricula after fulfilling UTC's standard B.A. General Education requirements. In their sophomore year, students refine their academic focus by drafting a Program Rationale that explores a cultural aspect tied to a significant theory, historical period, geographical area, or thought-provoking question. This Rationale serves as a guiding framework, illustrating how core courses interconnect.
