The Ethnicity, Nationalism, & Migration Concentration enables students to explore the demographic aspects of global studies, analyzing how population movements and ethnic identity formation worldwide are shaped by economic, social, and political factors—and their consequences.
PDF BROCHURE
Through interdisciplinary approaches, students gain insight into international migration patterns. The curriculum covers migration economics, policy development for migrants and refugees, and cultural tensions in both sending and receiving nations. Students also examine demands for ethnic recognition and minority protections, how these challenge nation-state authority, identity politics, and the endurance of nationalism amid expanding global institutions and cultures.
Graduates will be equipped for careers across public and private spheres, including roles with international development groups, ethnic conflict mediation bodies, immigration policy organizations, and refugee support services. The program also provides foundational knowledge for careers addressing global labor concerns and cross-cultural marketing strategies.
