The English major equips students with skills to critically examine and understand literary works and various texts, situating them within historical, theoretical, and artistic frameworks. It teaches students to assess arguments based on their logical structure and persuasive techniques while honing written and verbal communication abilities. As students cultivate these competencies, they're encouraged to find their unique analytical and creative perspectives by mastering complex material organization, adapting to diverse audiences, and comprehending language as a powerful tool. Aligned with liberal arts principles, the English major addresses society's growing demand for citizens adept in analytical thinking and effective communication. Technical communication specialists recognize the value of precise writing in scientific and specialized domains. They expertly structure information and present data with clarity and impact, bridging the gap between complex concepts and audience understanding. Exceptional students with defined academic goals, supported by faculty mentorship, may also design a personalized Program Concentration.
