Theatre design and technology involves applying critical thinking to address challenges across all aspects of production. As a design and theatre technology student at USD, you'll get thorough instruction in every theatrical component. By grasping each team member's contribution to the production workflow, you'll develop innovative solutions for the distinct demands of every show. You'll also acquire advanced analytical and communication abilities, along with knowledge of art and theatre design history, plus graphic communication skills.
For graduate students specializing in theatre design/technology, advanced coursework includes technical theatre, modern drama, script interpretation, dramaturgy, theatrical illustration, and specialized design areas like scenery, costumes, and lighting - enabling you to tailor your studies to align with professional aspirations.
Students with Baccalaureate degree must be from an institution with full regional accreditation for that degree. A minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 on conferred degree and/or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, based on a 4.0 scale, on all graduate coursework is required for full admission.
English Language Requirements:
A minimum score of 79 on the Internet-Based TOEFL (iBT) or 550 on the Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT), a minimum IELTS score of 6.0, or a minimum PTE score of 53 is required for graduate admission.
