Our robust, innovative program provides students with engaging graduate seminars covering British, American, and global literatures, supported by thorough historical, theoretical, and philosophical foundations. Students collaborate with published faculty specializing in diverse fields including environmental humanities, Western American literature, British modernism, cold war and conspiracy narratives, Shakespearean and early modern drama, American Transcendentalism, and British Romanticism. You'll design a personalized study plan aligned with your literary and critical passions as you prepare for qualifying examinations. With a funded Graduate Teaching Assistantship, you'll gain valuable experience instructing diverse courses to enhance your teaching skills and build academic credentials. Faculty guidance continues outside lectures through professional development workshops covering job searches, publishing strategies, conference participation, and career materials. Additional professional growth opportunities in publishing are also available.
