Our PhD candidates receive guidance from an extensive network of core and affiliated Comparative Literature faculty members. These professors maintain joint appointments with departments including East Asian Languages and Cultures, English, French and Italian, German and Russian, Middle East/South Asian Languages, and Religious Studies. The program fosters partnerships with interdisciplinary initiatives in critical theory, digital humanities, science and technology studies, film and media, and performance studies. The Designated Emphasis in Feminist Theory and Research enables graduate students from related programs to complement their doctoral studies with specialized knowledge in feminist scholarship. Qualified doctoral candidates can apply for admission to this emphasis and enroll in its specialized courses. Participants from approved PhD programs who fulfill the emphasis requirements will have this specialization recorded on their academic transcripts, with their doctoral diploma reflecting the designation "PhD in [discipline] with Emphasis in Feminist Theory and Research."
