As a musical theater student, you'll cultivate independent, creative, and adaptive abilities to emerge as a daring performer. Our program offers comprehensive training in musical theater fundamentals, including dramatic literature, historical context, and technical production. You'll master acting techniques for both classical and modern musical theater, refine vocal skills for diverse musical styles, and develop dance proficiency in ballet, jazz, and tap.
Through musical theater studies at USD, you'll transform into a versatile, dynamic performer with strong collaborative skills. Our curriculum focuses on enhancing your vocal, physical, and sensory expression while honing specialized dance and singing abilities to create exceptionally skilled artists.
This specialization equips you for professional musical theater careers and advanced training in vocal performance, dance, and acting. Admission to the musical theater program requires successful completion of an audition and interview process.
International students who have officially completed secondary school (high school) in either the United States or their home country may apply for undergraduate admission. High school (secondary school) transcript with grade point average equivalent to 2.6 on a 4.0 scale.
English Language Requirements:
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) - 71 or higher (iBT), 530 or higher (paper test), IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - 6.0 or higher, Cambridge International Examinations English subject O-Level with B or higher, English subject A-Level with C or higher; International Baccalaureate (IB) - IB English A (4 or higher) or IB English B (6 or higher).
