A sociology degree equips students with essential research, communication, and analytical abilities applicable across diverse professional paths. The Bachelor of Science in Sociology provides transferable competencies that open doors to careers in research-focused areas, corporate leadership, customer relations, teaching, legal professions, social services, and beyond.
Like the B.A. program, B.S. candidates develop expertise in evaluating and understanding data through statistical methods, enabling them to engage in discussions about gender and racial bias, socioeconomic status, economic disparity, and other societal issues. The B.S. program stands out by offering enhanced quantitative training that better prepares students for advanced academic pursuits or research-oriented professions. Additionally, students master persuasive communication techniques to question prevailing assumptions using factual data and research findings, with a strong focus on logical analysis.
Our instructors mentor students through curriculum that demonstrates patterns, traits, and dynamics in human-social interactions. B.S. graduates emerge ready for immediate employment or advanced academic work at USC and other institutions.
Exceptional undergraduates can earn Sociology Distinction by maintaining required academic standards and successfully presenting a research thesis. Those intending to pursue graduate studies at USC may qualify for the Accelerated Bachelors Program, allowing them to accumulate credits toward a master's degree while completing their sociology bachelor's requirements.
