Graduates earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education (B.S.P.E.) will demonstrate the ability to - Comprehend physical education subject matter and core principles essential for fostering physically active individuals. Recognize how people learn and grow, offering experiences that promote physical, mental, social, and emotional development. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and individual differences. Apply knowledge of motivation and group dynamics to establish a secure environment that promotes positive interactions, active participation, and self-driven learning. Employ effective communication methods, including verbal, nonverbal, and digital media, to improve engagement in physical activities. Design and execute varied instructional approaches aligned with developmental needs and educational standards (such as NASPE K-12). Utilize assessment strategies to support holistic student development in physical education. Reflect on the impact of their teaching practices and pursue continuous professional growth. Leverage technology to enrich both learning experiences and professional efficiency. Cultivate collaborative partnerships with peers, families, and community organizations to enhance student development and wellness.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 on the paper based exam or 77 on the internet based TOEFL is required. USC also accepts the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the PTE Academic Test. Students must score at least a 6.5 on the IELTS, or at least a 53 on the PTE.
