The Bachelor of Science in Marine Science equips students with a thorough knowledge of ocean systems, exploring how chemical and physical processes interact with marine geology and biology. This program allows for advanced specialization based on individual interests while focusing on practical applications, incorporating skills like statistical analysis, communication, and policy studies. Students gain hands-on research experience through mandatory field and lab courses, including opportunities at the Baruch Marine Field Lab in Georgetown, SC.
This multidisciplinary approach prepares graduates for diverse career paths in marine science. Alumni may pursue advanced studies or professional roles in government agencies, private industries, or nonprofit organizations.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 on the paper based exam or 77 on the internet based TOEFL is required. USC also accepts the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the PTE Academic Test. Students must score at least a 6.5 on the IELTS, or at least a 53 on the PTE.
