Capability to recognize, define, and resolve intricate engineering challenges through the application of engineering, scientific, and mathematical principles. Capability to employ engineering design in creating solutions that address specific requirements while accounting for public health, safety, and well-being, along with global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic considerations. Capability to convey information clearly to diverse audiences. Capability to acknowledge ethical and professional obligations in engineering scenarios and reach well-reasoned conclusions that account for the effects of engineering outcomes on global, economic, environmental, and societal dimensions. Capability to collaborate productively within teams, where members collectively demonstrate leadership, foster cooperative and inclusive settings, define objectives, organize activities, and achieve goals. Capability to design and perform suitable experiments, evaluate and interpret information, and utilize engineering reasoning to form conclusions. Capability to obtain and implement new information as required, employing effective learning approaches.
International freshman applicants must be high school graduates (students that have the equivalent of a diploma in the United States).
English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A score of at least 550 on the paper based exam or 77 on the internet based TOEFL is required. USC also accepts the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the PTE Academic Test. Students must score at least a 6.5 on the IELTS, or at least a 53 on the PTE.
