The Languages, Literatures and Cultures (LLC) major equips students with multilingual communication abilities while fostering a profound understanding of diverse cultural histories and traditions. This program prepares graduates to become thoughtful, compassionate participants in international business and global relations. Career opportunities span advertising, diplomacy, journalism, publishing, education, translation, tourism, and other fields.
Through advanced Spanish language studies, majors explore the literature and cultures of Spanish-speaking nations. The curriculum includes a Foreign Language Education minor, covering topics like learning diversity, educational psychology, literacy instruction, and language teaching methods. Participants gain hands-on experience through two semesters of internships in public PK-12 schools, mentored by experienced educators. Upon completing their Bachelor of Arts, graduates receive teaching certification from the South Carolina Department of Education, preparing them for Spanish teaching positions in elementary through high school settings.
