The University of San Francisco's PsyD program prepares students to transform theory into practice through hands-on training focused on addressing the psychological, emotional, and physical wellbeing of marginalized populations. Housed in the School of Nursing and Health Professions at a traditional university in the heart of San Francisco's vibrant, multicultural environment, this research-based doctoral program immerses students in actual clinical situations. Rooted in Jesuit principles, the USF PsyD curriculum delivers an intensive educational experience that prioritizes clinical practice and academic research with underserved groups, cultivating culturally aware health service psychologists for collaborative behavioral healthcare environments.
The PsyD program spans four years of full-time coursework followed by either a one-year full-time or two-year part-time internship. Degree requirements include: four academic years plus internship completion, with at least three academic years (including one full-time year) completed within USF's program.
Upon graduation, clinical psychology doctoral candidates will possess the expertise, perspectives, and abilities to deliver culturally attuned, situationally appropriate behavioral health services across various professional settings.
