The Spanish Studies major and minor programs go beyond language learning—they immerse students in a second language, culture, and history, while exploring the social and political contexts essential for thriving in diverse global communities. Our curriculum highlights the distinctive contributions of Spanish-speaking populations worldwide, featuring rigorous coursework, community-based learning experiences, and study abroad programs that deepen understanding of Chicanx, Hispanic, Latin American, and Latinx cultures. By conducting all courses in Spanish, we uphold the principle that true cultural understanding requires full immersion.
The Spanish major aims to develop strong oral and written language skills while providing a comprehensive foundation in the literature and culture of Spanish-speaking regions.
Students will-
