For over fifty years, Rochester's Department of Political Science has played a pivotal role in reshaping political science as a field. The Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) program, which began at Oxford University in the 1920s, offers an interdisciplinary approach that has expanded to numerous UK institutions and gained traction at American universities. This major equips students to tackle pressing social, political, and economic issues using ethical reasoning, microeconomic principles, and quantitative methods.
Rochester offers abundant internship possibilities for students seeking hands-on involvement in political, governmental, legal, and community initiatives. Through PSCI 394, participants can obtain four academic credits toward their political science degree by dedicating 10-15 weekly hours to local internships, complemented by scholarly work guided by Professor Stu Jordan. Potential PSCI 394 placements encompass various opportunities.
Our collaboration with the Gwen M. Greene Career and Internships Center helps students access employment, internships, research positions, and additional professional development options.
