Complete a bachelor's degree in nursing in just one year and advance to a master's program in one of our top-ranked nurse practitioner specialties. Our Accelerated Master's in Nursing Programs for Non-Nurses enable driven students to achieve master's-level nurse practitioner qualifications at a prestigious upstate New York university. Leverage your prior healthcare background to transition into nursing and specialize as a nurse practitioner through this accelerated pathway.
When accepted into this dual program, students enroll simultaneously in both the 12-Month Accelerated Bachelor's in Nursing (ABSN) and their selected Master's Nurse Practitioner specialty. The journey begins with completing the nursing bachelor's degree in one year through our intensive ABSN program. After passing the NCLEX-RN for licensure, students progress directly into their master's studies. While we typically advise starting with just the 12-Month ABSN to first earn your nursing degree, this approach lets students explore various specialties before committing to a master's focus while gaining hands-on clinical training at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Admission requires a prior non-nursing bachelor's degree with at least a 3.0 GPA. Due to the program's competitive nature and limited availability, applicants must demonstrate relevant healthcare experience (professional or volunteer) in their chosen specialty area.
Applications are accepted for spring or summer starts, provided all prerequisite courses (21-24 credits) are successfully completed.
