The B.S. in Ocean Engineering program at URI stands among the few accredited programs of its kind in the United States. This nationally acclaimed curriculum excels in areas such as ocean instrumentation and robotics, underwater acoustics, marine hydrodynamics and tsunami research, coastal modeling, marine geomechanics, coastal and offshore structures, and offshore energy production.

Students combine challenging foundational coursework with hands-on laboratory and field experiences that leverage our coastal setting and extensive facilities. Situated at URI's Narragansett Bay Campus, our resources feature a 30-meter wave tank, an acoustics testing tank, electronics and machine shops, 3D printing capabilities, laser cutting equipment, and numerous other tools. Additionally, the department utilizes a fully equipped 42-foot research vessel for both instructional laboratories and scientific investigations.
